Active Projects at the Centre
The Genetics Education Project
The goals of the Genetics Education Project (GEP) were to facilitate the delivery of genetics services by primary care providers and to develop effective models for genetics education.
Knowledge Support Service
This service provides a best practice support visit on Diabetes Care to primary care practitioners.
Collaborative Care
The Centre for Effective Practice, along with its partners, is committed to advancing collaborative care within an evidence framework - for the benefit of patients and providers alike. Our current projects are focused on moving clinical practice guidelines into practice in interprofessional primary care settings.
Flu Shot 2007 (tools and video)
Influenza is a potentially severe respiratory illness that can result in increased healthcare provider visits, antimicrobial use, hospitalizations, and death. Helping patients in their decision making about whether to get the flu shot can be a real challenge for you and your colleagues.
In an effort to support the primary care practitioner in the care of their patients, the Centre for Effective Practice (Drs. Michael Evans and Bruce Kwok), in partnership with the Nurse Practicioners Association of Ontario (NPAO), the Ontario Pharmacists' Association (OPA) and the Ontario College of Family Physicians (OCFP) prepared the attached toolkit of materials; funded by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
We have emphasized the importance of vaccinating high risk populations (specifically the pediatric population) where evidence supports/concludes it is appropriate.
